Antler Thumb Sticks For Sale

I have four lovely antler thumb sticks available in time for Christmas and one lovely buffalo lyre thumb sticks. These are the only antler/horn thumb sticks I will have before Christmas and once they are gone they are gone.

Of all the sticks I sell these are probably the most popular as everyone seems to love a bit of red deer antler and it does look wonderful mounted onto a nice shank.

Red deer shed their antlers annually and I have a supplier who collects it from a couple of estates in the Highlands of Scotland.

All sticks are made from natural products and will show slight imperfections adding to their charm and individuality.

All sticks can be shortened and once sold will be fitted with a brass ferrule before shipping. UK postage and packaging is £20 and Europe £50 – I do not send to USA or Australia

Payment by cash, BACS or cheque.

I am based in South Oxfordshire and welcome enquiries by appointment only. I would be able to show you the sticks in our carport so safely outdoors!

Antler thumb stick A is a lovely piece of antler on a silvery hazel shank measuring approx 51″ to the v and capped in Ox horn. Nice and dark on one side and whiter on the reverse, its a nice looking stick looking for a country ramble. Feels better in the right hand than the left – £65 SOLD JK

Antler thumb stick B is a very attractive stick feeling better in the left hand than the right but fairly ambidextrous. Capped on one side with Ox horn and mounted on an attractive hazel shank. Measuring approx 53″ to the v and like all of my sticks can be shortened before I fit a ferrule – £60 SOLD JK

Antler thumb stick C is a real corker looking for its forever home in the countryside. Lovely bit of red deer antler capped in buffalo horn and a beautiful darker chocolatey hazel shank. It feels slightly better in the left hand than the right but fairly ambidextrous again. Measuring approx 52.5″ to the v its the perfect Christmas gift for your loved one or yourself! £70 SOLD MP

Antler thumb stick D is a simpler stick, not capped but rounded off and varnished to seal it. A nice looking thumb stick meaning approx 54″ to the v on a lovely hazel shank. Feels great in the right hand and ok in the left. A nice stick ready for the country walk over the fields to the pub with the dog – £55 SOLD MD

Finally the odd one in the bunch is a very nice looking black buffalo thumb stick.

A classic stick that tends to sell fairly soon after posting them on here or my Facebook page. This shape is called a Lyre handle and made from black buffalo horn. Its a wonderful material that is easy to polish and was well with age. A very popular stick to see in the field whilst on peg or perfect for the daily dog walk. All crooks can be shortened and will come fitted with a brass ferrule. These crooks make perfect gifts for the country lover, hill walkers, at the peg in the field or for use around the farm. These crooks are extremely well made, strong and feel great in the hand. Much admired and a delight to own!

Crook DEC W – Another stunner! This handle is just lovely in the hand, nice and large with a medium weight shank. This shank has quite a taper compared to most giving it a little less weight. The crook some of my followers have been waiting for! A Jacobs rams horn crook on attractive hazel shank with ox horn spacer. A smaller crook measuring 50″ in height with a smaller handle. Looking for a lovely shepherds crook for walking and country pursuits to give to your loved one this Christmas, I have some fabulous wooden crooks here for sale. Sorry they are not photographed so elegantly as normal but the images in the gallery will give you a good idea. All crooks are photographed on both sides as usual and are approx 51″-53″ in length. All crooks can be cut to length and a ferrule fitted before posting. I would not use these to wrestle livestock with for fear of damaging the handle.

Shepherds Crooks For Sale January 2014

With lambing season on its way it is time to post a few more shepherds crooks. I only have 5 at present so be quick and reserve your stick now.

Crook E – an attractive and unusually shaped crook with a small dip toward the back of the head. This is a lovely stick with the dip being most comfortable to rest the thumb! Measuring approx 52″ in length it is a lovely lightweight stick with pretty hazel shank. SOLD

Crook D – a good and strong traditionally shaped crook ready for this seasons lambing or sheep dog trails! Measuring approx 52.5″ in length it is a lovely lightweight stick with hazel shank. £135.00

Crook C – A sturdy traditionally made shepherds crook on a medium weight hazel shank. Measuring approx 51.5″ in length it is a lovely mid weight stick with pretty hazel shank. £135.00

Crook B – One for the purist. This stick has lovely contrast between the cream horn and the chocolate coloured hazel. You cannot eat it but it’s a stunner! Measuring approx 51.5″ in length it is a fabulous mid-heavy weight stick with a solid shank. SOLD

More Rams Horn Crooks Available!

I have some lovely rams horn crooks and market sticks now available. Having had 4 requests in the past week I though I should photograph some and get them on my website.

I get very limited numbers of these rams horn sticks and once they are gone they are gone.

All nose out crooks are £150 unless marked accordingly. Market sticks are all £100 each Postage to the UK is £20 for up to three sticks. Overseas postage is £40 to Europe.

All sticks are approx. 51″-53″ in height and all have hazel shanks. These are great quality and perfect for walking in the countryside, the forthcoming shooting season and looking after your flock!

Please note the red or pinkish areas is called blushing and a natural part of the crook material. It is from where the ram has been fighting!!

Basic Stick Making Workshops in Oxfordshire

I will be running a series of stick making workshops in South Oxfordshire, near Watlington in the summer months. The course will be a day long from about 10 – 5 and in that time you will be able to make your own walking stick either with a wooden top or antler top.

The course will be £100 to include lunch and your materials. Your stick should be finished by the end of the day or almost finished and you will be able to take it home with you.

Maximum of 2 delegates per course.
