New Crooks in stock ready for Christmas!!!

It’s that time of the year again when I have a few crooks and other sticks to sell. These sticks are hand made using the finest Welsh mountain ram horn and quality seasoned hazel shanks. These are some of the best I have seen in terms of the quality of the horn and the lovely mottled shanks that feature on so many of them.

As with any natural product some may show natural imperfections in the horn or wood but just add to the unique charm of these beautiful crooks. The red areas present in the horn on some of the crooks is called blushing and a sign of a ram that enjoyed a good fight!

All crooks can be shortened and once sold will be fitted with a brass ferrule before shipping. UK postage and packaging is £20 and Europe £50 – I do not send crooks to USA or Australia

Rams Horn Nov Crook I – As I pick these up to write a desription I can see merits in each and every crook. They really are such lovely things to hold and use. I’ve had a crook for several years and still love to pick it up out of the stick rack in the hall and take it out on walks. They age beautifully and looked after well will last a lifetime. I digress …. This wonderful crook has a darker hazel shank, more chocolate than some of the others which gives lovely contrast to the cream rams horn handle. Rams Horn Nov Crook J – Another stunning piece of rams horn, interestingly a split character, on one side of the horn there is barely a mark and on the other side are the scars (blushing) from the fights this ram has got himself involved in. Possibly for that special someone in your life! Rams Horn Nov Crook L – A darker combination than some of the others, possibly the marmite of the bunch, you will either love it or hate it! This shank is chestnut rather than hazel so will be a little springier. Plenty of character, nice colours going on in the horn with a tale to tell. I have just 3 rams horn crooks available to anyone interested. The tallest of these pictured above was made to commission and has sold.

All are the same quality as before, these are Welsh mountain ram horns on hazel shanks. All will show natural imperfections as expected with any natural product but add to the charm on the crooks. After selling out at Christmas I am pleased to say I have new crooks available. Just six horn crooks for now, 4 rams horn crooks and 2 buffalo crooks.

As always each crooks has its own brief description beneath it. All crooks can be shortened if needed and will come with a brass ferrule fitted to the bottom of the shank. These are made from natural products so will have natural imperfections. All crooks are extremely strong and the horn ones are suitable to work with or just for an enjoyable Sunday walk in the hills.

More Rams Horn crooks now available. This really is the last of the crooks before Christmas!!!

Due to popular demand and the fact the last lot of rams horn crooks sold so quickly I have managed to get another 11 together to sell before Christmas. This really is it now for 2015 stock and once these 11 are gone I will have no more rams horn crooks in stock before next Spring. These are some of the best I have had too making them all the better to give as a gift to you loved one or for yourself this Christmas.

All crooks below are made from Welsh Mountain Ram horn (except Crook DEC A) and hazel shanks. The joint is held together with a piece of threaded bar and 2 pack epoxy resin and are very strong indeed! The shanks take on different colour in the bark depending on where they have been grown. This is a handmade product so will have natural imperfections in the horn and wood but add to the character of the stick. All shanks are varnished to protect the wood from moisture and if looked after will last for years to come. All sizes are approximate to within 0.5″. All sticks can be shortened to length and will have a ferrule fitted before sending to you.

UK postage and packaging is just £15.00 for up to three sticks! Europe is £50. All prices are in GBP and to be paid by BACS or cheque on request. Paypal is also acceptable with a 3% surcharge.

Crook DEC A – A rare opportunity to own a lovely Jacobs horn crook. I have very few of these each year and they are often the first to sell. 53″ in length, its a strong and sturdy crook ready for the countryman. Crook DEC E – A great shaped crook, slightly heavier than average so suitable for a gentleman. Lots of great character in the horn and a nice feel in the hand. Crook DEC G – a very colourful crook of medium weight, measuring 52.5″ in length on a rich brown hazel shank. Plenty of blushing and it has a distinct strip on the front of the horn too. A real eye catcher for SOLD NF

Crook DEC I – An absolute cracker at 52.5″. This is a heavy weight stick, thick horn and shank for someone looking for a really beautiful and useful crook. It’s so nice I’ve just had to look at it again to consider keeping for myself it but how many sticks does one man need?! Crook DEC J – A good all rounder, nice medium to heavy weight useful crook for the farm, to hang your coat on whist on your peg or just to lean on at market or to catch your breath! 52″ in length this is a good dependable crook. Nice horn and a good shape. SOLD JW
