have 4 beautiful cream rams horn crooks available. All cream crooks are made from Welsh mountain rams horn and have plenty of character in the horn. The red markings in the horn is called blushing and is from where the rams have been fighting with each other. These are lovely examples of traditional shepherds crooks and can be great for anything from the country walk with the dog, a trip to the pub, working around the farm or on your peg during the coming shooting season. They are very strong, made with a piece of threaded bar between handle and shank very hard to break at the joint. With some care they should last several years or even a lifetime!

All crook are made from natural products and will show slight imperfections adding to their charm and individuality.

All crooks can be shortened and once sold will be fitted with a brass ferrule before shipping. UK postage and packaging is £20 and Europe £50 – I do not send to USA or Australia

Lighter than some and with a beautiful mottled tapered hazel shank it’s going to turn heads in the field. Ram Summer B – A quality and dependable shepherds crook ready to go to work. Lovely bit of horn on a strong hazel shank. Perfect in the back of the pick up with the dogs ready for a day on the hills. At approx 52″ in length is a great crook for just £175 SOLD SR

Ram Summer C – A very pretty looking crook with cream rams horn handle on a attractive hazel shank. Slightly lighter weight would suit a lady or smaller chap. Perfect as a working crook, on your peg on popping down the local in style. Measuring approx 52″ in length – £185 SOLD BW

Ram Summer D – The chunkiest of the bunch, this magnificent crook has a little more horn in the handle than normal, some wonderful blushing to the horn, mainly on the top, a good strong hazel shank and ready for a hard days work. Measuring approx 52″ in length – £200 SOLD NB

It’s that time of the year when I ramp up my sticks and crooks in preparation for the Christmas market. Sticks and crooks make great Christmas presents and something a loved one will have for years to come. Over the next few weeks I will be adding all of my stock to my website.

Next up we have 3 lovely cream welsh mountain rams horn crooks. All have plenty of character and very strong ready for a good day on the farm or in the field.

Ram Oct A

First up we have this beautiful crook with lovely reddish brown shank and nice bit of horn. At just under 52″ in length its good looking dependable strong crook for just £165.00 SOLD BB

Ram Oct B

Second up we have this little character filled crook, smaller than the others with plenty of blushing on the horn (from where the ram has been scrapping!). Measuring approximately 52″ is a perfect companion to work with on the farm or take for a walk. A bargain at £150.00! RESERVED MD

Last up we have this stunner measuring approx 53.5″ in length, it has a hidden bit of interest of a black streak on the inside on the nose to around the arch of the handle (tricky to see in a profile pic but you can just about make it out if you zoom in a bit!) .

Red deer antler thumb sticks now available! Everyone seems to love an antler thumb stick!

I have a lovely selection of antler thumb sticks available this year – antler thumb sticks are very popular as they are hard wearing, forgiving, nice and tactile to hold and look pretty attractive too! The antler comes from the red deer when the deers shed their antlers at the end of the winter in the Highlands of Scotland.

All sticks can be shortened at no extra cost before fitting a brass ferrule.

The top 3 (A, B and C) are available linseed oiled and the bottom 3 (D, E and F) are varnished with 3 coats of yacht varnish. I will be applying more oil to these top three so will be a bit shinier if you order one.

A trio of wooden crooks available for Christmas! (December 2018)

I have a trio of beautiful wooden crooks here ready for Christmas! All lovingly handmade and ready for the perfect country walk. Whilst the wooden crooks are strong I would not suggest wrestling a sheep with one and would recommend a rams horn crook for such purposes – see previous post! As with all natural products there will be natural imperfections which do add to the charm.

All crooks will come fitted with a brass ferrule and ready to use. UK P&P is £20 for up to three sticks/crooks so why not treat your loved ones.

I have just 3 rams horn crooks available to anyone interested. The tallest of these pictured above was made to commission and has sold.

All are the same quality as before, these are Welsh mountain ram horns on hazel shanks. All will show natural imperfections as expected with any natural product but add to the charm on the crooks.
