Both approximately 52″ in length and can be shortened before I fit ferrules. As with all natural products there will be minor imperfections and add to the character of a handmade shepherds crook

have 4 beautiful cream rams horn crooks available.  All cream crooks are made from Welsh mountain rams horn and have plenty of character in the horn. The red markings in the horn is called blushing and is from where the rams have been fighting with each other.  These are lovely examples of traditional shepherds crooks and can be great for anything from the country walk with the dog, a trip to the pub, working around the farm or on your peg during the coming shooting season. They are very strong, made with a piece of threaded bar between handle and shank very hard to break at the joint. With some care they should last several years or even a lifetime!

All crook are made from natural products and will show slight imperfections adding to their charm and individuality.

All crooks can be shortened and once sold will be fitted with a brass ferrule before shipping. UK postage and packaging is £20 and Europe £50 – I do not send to USA or Australia

It’s that time of the year when I ramp up my sticks and crooks in preparation for the Christmas market. Sticks and crooks make great Christmas presents and something a loved one will have for years to come. Over the next few weeks I will be adding all of my stock to my website.

Ram Oct A

First up we have this beautiful crook with lovely reddish brown shank and nice bit of horn. At just under 52″ in length its good looking dependable strong crook for just £165.00 SOLD BB

Ram Oct B

Second up we have this little character filled crook, smaller than the others with plenty of blushing on the horn (from where the ram has been scrapping!). Measuring  approximately 52″ is a perfect companion to work with on the farm or take for a walk. A bargain at £150.00! RESERVED MD

Last up we have this stunner measuring approx 53.5″ in length, it has a hidden bit of interest of a black streak on the inside on the nose to around the arch of the handle (tricky to see in a profile pic but you can just about make it out if you zoom in a bit!) .

Red deer antler thumb sticks now available! Everyone seems to love an antler thumb stick!

I have a lovely selection of antler thumb sticks available this year – antler thumb sticks are very popular as they are hard wearing, forgiving, nice and tactile to hold and look pretty attractive too!  The antler comes from the red deer when the deers shed their antlers at the end of the winter in the Highlands of Scotland.

All sticks can be shortened at no extra cost before fitting a brass ferrule.

The top 3 (A, B and C) are available linseed oiled and the bottom 3 (D, E and F) are varnished with 3 coats of yacht varnish. I will be applying more oil to these top three so will be a bit shinier if you order one.

A trio of wooden crooks available for Christmas! (December 2018)

I have a trio of beautiful wooden crooks here ready for Christmas! All lovingly handmade and ready for the perfect country walk. Whilst the wooden crooks are strong I would not suggest wrestling a sheep with one and would recommend a rams horn crook for such purposes – see previous post!  As with all natural products there will be natural imperfections which do add to the charm.

All crooks will come fitted with a brass ferrule and ready to use. UK P&P is £20 for up to three sticks/crooks so why not treat your loved ones.

It’s that time of the year again folks when I get an influx of enquiries for stick and crooks for Christmas. Well, I’m pleased to say I have a great selection of crooks in rams horn and one in buffalo horn.  As before each crooks has it’s own description beneath it and together with the length and the price.  All sticks can be shortened if needed and will come with a brass ferrule fitted. Looking for a lovely shepherds crook for walking and country pursuits to give to your loved one this Christmas, I have some fabulous wooden crooks here for sale. Sorry they are not photographed so elegantly as normal but the images in the gallery will give you a good idea. All crooks are photographed on both sides as usual and are approx 51″-53″ in length. All crooks can be cut to length and a ferrule fitted before posting. I would not use these to wrestle livestock with for fear of damaging the handle.

More Rams Horn crooks now available. This really is the last of the crooks before Christmas!!!

Due to popular demand and the fact the last lot of rams horn crooks sold so quickly I have managed to get another 11 together to sell before Christmas. This really is it now for 2015 stock and once these 11 are gone I will have no more rams horn crooks in stock before next Spring. These are some of the best I have had too making them all the better to give as a gift to you loved one or for yourself this Christmas.

All crooks below are made from Welsh Mountain Ram horn (except Crook DEC A)  and hazel shanks. The joint is held together with a piece of threaded bar  and 2 pack epoxy resin and are very strong indeed! The shanks take on different colour in the bark depending on where they have been grown. This is a handmade product so will have natural imperfections in the horn and wood but add to the character of the stick. All shanks are varnished to protect the wood from moisture and if looked after will last for years to come. All sizes are approximate to within 0.5″. All sticks can be shortened to length and will have a ferrule fitted before sending to you.

UK postage and packaging is just £15.00 for up to three sticks! Europe is £50. All prices are in GBP and to be paid by BACS  or cheque on request. Paypal is also acceptable with a 3% surcharge.

Crook DEC A – A rare opportunity to own a lovely Jacobs horn crook. I have very few of these each year and they are often the first to sell. 53″ in length, its a strong and sturdy crook ready for the countryman. It’s so nice I’ve just had to look at it again to consider keeping for myself it but how many sticks does one man need?! Looking for a shepherds crook in rams horn or wood for a Christmas present or just a gift for yourself?  Look no further, below is a large selection of rams horn crooks from Swaledale rams, Welsh Mountain Rams, Wood and Buffalo (not quite as native to the UK!) horn. Rams horn crooks from £125 to £175 and are priced marked accordingly.  Buffalo horn crooks are from £80 to £135.  Wooden crooks are just £75 each,  and market sticks are all £100 each Postage to the UK is £15 for up to three sticks.
